I am a California native, born and raised in the greater San Francisco Bay area. A graduate of UC Berkeley, I majored in political science, focusing on both Soviet Studies and South Asian politics, and soon after, obtained my teaching credential from San Jose State University, located in Silicon Valley. My first teaching job was that of Activities Director at a large public high school, but was soon drawn to the adventure of teaching overseas. I first worked at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi as a history teacher and volleyball/basketball coach, spending four years in the Gulf, and a further five years at Mont Kiara International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While at MKIS I taught social studies, IB history, and was the school’s first CAS Coordinator. Work and family took me back to the United States in 2003, where I remained until relocating to the Middle East a second time, again to Abu Dhabi in 2010, then to Amman, Jordan. After four years in Doha as the Director of THIMUN Qatar, I relocated to my hometown of Watsonville California.
My passion for MUN started at ACS Abu Dhabi, where I founded the school’s MUN program, and became one of the first schools from the UAE to attend THIMUN. I then started the Model UN program at MKIS, sending delegations, student officers and press team members to THIMUN and BEIMUN. It was during a brief stint as a teacher at an online international school that I developed the online MUN model, which further grew into an independent, global ed nonprofit in 2011. I am the Founder and former Director/CEO of Online Model United Nation. I currently am the Executive Director of MUN Impact, a global NGO that I founded in 2018.
When not glued to my computer updating blogs, working on digital certificates or just hanging out with my delegate community on Facebook, I enjoy travelling, reading and spending time with my two daughters (grade 10 and university freshman).
